Ch. #41 – “Never outshined: Chris Cornell and mental health”

 

Earlier this past week marked 4 years since the great Chris Cornell left us far too early after hanging himself in his hotel room merely hours after finishing a concert performing with his much lauded band Soundgarden.

Chris Cornell and many of the bands he was a part of through his career, like Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave, represent some of my absolute favorite artists and bands of all time. Listening to Chris’ music have in the past help me get through patches of melancholy in my life. Despite never having met him I have felt a empathic connection with Chris from those experiences.

We have lost many a great artists in the last couple of years. Many I admire greatly. However none of the death rocked me the way as Chris’ did. It was a trauma for me to the degree that I distinctly remember to this day where I was and what I did that day. This for a man I never had the pleasure to meet.

This one is for Chris Cornell and to put a another spotlight on mental health.

Ch. #40 – “Where’s it at?”

 

Where it’s at. – Beck, 1996

The diffident question form of this phrase is a good question. Of course in general and for most of the time for most of us but for posing here I was temporarily a bit self-indulgent as I had myself and Rambling in B-flat in mind. After fading away about 18 month-ish or so ago in silence and failing my original New Year’s vow that was the original starting point of this blog and me writing these rambling posts about music and life I have decided to pick it up again.

So this is where it’s at.
